In those days Sree Ezhuthachan used to take bath daily in the nearby Sokanasini (Chittoor) River and worship the Lord. The works of Ezhuttacchan were in the form of kili-patt (as told by Tatta or parrot). In memory of this Father of Malayalam literature, the place of Kakkurissi was renamed as Tattamangalam. It is reported that Thunchan Ezhuthachan lived here in 729 K.E. (corresponding to 1553 A.D.)

Tattamangalam - East - 100 Agraharams Project

The agraharam is about 20 kilometers south of Palakkad Junction and just away from the State Highway 27.

"Dating to the thirteenth century, the temple later got associated with Shri Tunchatt Ramanujan Ezhuthachan. Prior to its association with Sree Ezhuthachan, the place was known as Kakkayoor.

The temple was owned and managed by the Cochin Royal family and since 1951 by the Cochin Devaswom Board. The Devaswom Officer of Chittur Bhagavathy Devaswam looks after the day-to-day administration of this temple also."

- from the Census of India, Special Studies - S Jayashanker

Only 2 Brahmin families live in the village and it is very disheartening. Smt Savitri is in complete devotion with Shiva and the Althara Ganapathy. She gives a new angle to the name of the agrahram as it came as 'Dattam' (gift) from the King/Ruler and thus (D)Tattamangalam.

I request the folks with roots in the agraharams to take their phones and record the memories of the elders who are a wealth of information on the past of the ChathurvediMangalams aka Agraharams.
