History

Adityapuram  Sri Krishna Swamy Temple was built by Tamil Vadakalai SriVaishnavites who came from Kancheepuram, Thanjavur and Trichy in TamilNadu, when Maalik Kafur commander of Delhi Sulthanate ruthlessly sacked towns of Madurai & SriRangam in 14th century A.D. Next group came when Bahmani Sulthan annexed Kanchipuram in 1480. Third group came after the downfall of Vijayanagara Empire fearing that Bijapur Sultans would convert them to Islam by force. Bijapur Sulthan & Mughals attacked Kanchi & parts of Chennai in 16th century. This village is 700 year old.

The deity, Shri Gopalakrishna Swamy is installed in the 'Kaliya Mardhana' (with his right foot placed on the head of a cobra) posture. This makes the temple one of the rarest in India.

The residents of the village are all Vaishnavates and followers of Ahobila Mutt  Jeer Swamigal.
